Wallows - Model

Wallows decided not to try too hard and put out a light summer record that you can drink, hang out, smoke with and not think too much about what’s happening around you.

The problem with this sound is that it does not develop the flow of the album in any way, which is why it becomes very blurry and turns into mush. Perhaps with strawberries and currants, but still mush. It works well overall, but it lacks the bright highlights that would make it stickier and make you pay attention. And this is a problem that can be traced throughout the guys’ discography, which by the time of the third studio album was already time to correct.

Being a successful indie pop/rock band is not only about subtlety, discretion and beautiful photographs for boy-hungry listeners. In your position, you can do anything, but you don’t seem to be using this position.
