Gracie Abrams - The Secret of Us
Hello, Folklore at 1.5x speed mixed with The Tortured Poets Department and a bit of Midnights!
A rare appearance by Taylor Swift as a guest artist was granted to Gracie Abrams, who will open for the final leg of the Eras Tour at the end of the year.
Honestly, when listening, it feels more like you’re hearing a Taylor Swift song with Gracie Abrams dropping by. And not because Swift is omnipresent and steals the spotlight. That’s not it at all. It’s just that if you use Taylor Swift, two of Taylor Swift’s main producers, and yourself without pushing your own concepts and visions much, most creators will automatically end up with a Taylor Swift song unless you personally make authorial changes.
Does it sound nice? It does. Do the artists complement each other? They do. Have we heard this before? A hundred times.
It’s good if this serves as a boost for Abrams and draws attention from a wider audience. It’s bad that it will happen with a song that relies on the clichés of a more popular colleague, even with her participation.
