Mitski - The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We

Mitski doesn't have bad albums. We know that. Mitski works great with lyrics. We know this too. Mitski knows how to create an atmosphere with her music. And we know this too. So is there anything to highlight or specifically praise with the album "The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We"? Yes.

Having gone through the album's path from discussions on the topic of youth, growing up, sex, first relationships and suffering, we got to the moment when a young woman sits down comfortably with a glass of wine late in the evening in her favorite slippers to remember her love stories, reflect on the topic of loneliness and that how it makes her feel.

This journey is uneven, with its ups and downs, places bright and loud, but also quiet and pleasant - like a real memory that is never uniform. Despite the fact that most of the album sticks to moderate instrumentals, periodically we have an emotional outburst of the brightest moments that can easily be considered as those that left the greatest imprint on the artist.

The album's bet was made on presenting the material of the singer-songwriter, and this bet worked. Without a doubt, this is immediately Mitski's strongest album lyrically. The moderate folk-country accompaniment with orchestral elements incredibly cleverly adds depth and wisdom to this work, playing on the emotions and attentiveness of the listener. And despite the fact that the album lasts just over half an hour, it does not leave any questions, a feeling of incompleteness or transience, developing into a complete picture with its own beginning and ending.

The Land Is Inhospitable but This Album Certainly Is. So wait for a calm, cool autumn night, and go on an amazing journey that Mitski created not only for herself, but for all of us.
