Lucy Dacus - Ankles / Limerence

Lucy Dacus is finally back with new music, inspired by Bridgerton, neoclassical Romanticism and Fiona Apple.

After her 2023 triumph with boygenius, indie-rock-darling announces a new album Forever is a Feeling along with two pre-singles. The record is out late March, but the new songs already show that Dacus slowly pulls off from her usual sound: the already familiar roaring guitars have been replaced by violins and cello.

But one thing remains: Lucy is still the same hopeless romantic who knows how to write deeply emotional and vunerable lyrics. “Ankles” will leave you hooked with its line about playing scissors, and the choruses of “Limerence” prove that even the simplest words can make your heart ache. Many artists can write “Is there a difference between lying to you/If it feels just as bad as telling the truth?”, but only a few can deliver it in a way that makes your heart feel like it’s breaking into the tiniest pieces. That’s a big part of Lucy Dacus’ talent as a performer: her warm, velvet voice simply can’t leave you apathetic, and all of her emotional experiences feel like she’s telling your own story, not hers.

Both songs showcase Lucy's versatility as a musician, and 'Forever is a Feeling' is already shaping up to be one of the most personal and intimate releases of the year.
